The Academy by the Sea academic summer program is a five week co-educational program that balances academics and recreation for a fulfilling experience. Designed especially for students entering grade 7 through 12, the academic program helps students prepare for their upcoming school year and for the academic experiences that lie ahead in secondary education. The Academy offers a variety of subjects from which students pick four enrichment classes or two credit classes that will comprise their summer schedules. The Academy by the Sea offers a unique opportunity for qualified high school students to remediate up to one full year or one semester of a select course during the summer program.

Course schedules may consist of ONE of the following:
1. Non-Credit Courses Only: Four one-period enrichment courses
2. Credit Courses Only*: One or two two-period remedial courses
*Important Note: CREDIT COURSES ARE FOR REMEDIATION ONLY. To qualify for credit courses, the applicant MUST have previously taken the same high school course and earned a semester grade of “D” or “F”. A semester credit of 0.5 units is attainable for each two-period credit course taken. High school students who are only taking one remediation course (i.e. 1st or 2nd semester) will be enrolled in study hall for the remaining two class periods.
