Academy by the Sea/Camp Pacific is operated by Army and Navy Academy. During the academic year, the campus functions as a college-preparatory boarding school for boys, with facilities that include: library, computer lab, recreation hall, bookstore, canteen, dining services and fully equipped classrooms and dormitories. During the summer, the campus is transformed into a co-educational environment that has a unique mix of students from all over the U.S. and the world.
Location:
Academy by the Sea/Camp Pacific is located on the sixteen acre Army and Navy Academy campus in beautiful Carlsbad, California. Carlsbad is a sunny seaside resort community ideally situated on the Pacific Ocean, 35 miles north of San Diego and 80 miles south of Los Angeles. Magnificent ocean views and breezes surround our campus.
Facilities and Lodging:
The Academy facilities include a library, swimming pool, beach access, tennis courts, athletic fields, gymnasium, seven residence buildings, cafeteria, health center, classrooms, camp store, chapel, and an oceanfront recreation center. Participants stay in double and triple occupancy rooms. Each room is furnished with beds, clothing shelves, desks, and closet. In 2003 we added a brand new dorm that holds 100 people. Our other resident buildings are dorm and cottage style lodging.
Food Service:
Your meals will be prepared by our professional kitchen staff and are served cafeteria-style. Each group has the option for having three meals per day. Breakfast includes two hot options i.e. (eggs, French toast), a cereal bar, bagels, donuts, toast, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, tea, and milk. Lunch includes two hot options i.e. (pizza, stir fry, tacos) a salad bar, a sandwich bar, a dessert, fresh fruit, sodas, milk, coffee and tea. Dinner includes the same option types as our lunch menu. Making prior arrangements can accommodate some special diets or special requests.
Camp Store:
Our camp store features snacks, sundries, shirts, sweatshirts and hats. We also stock stationary, postcards, and batteries. The Camp Store is available only during certain times of the season. Please check with us to see if the store will be open during your group’s stay.
Transportation:
Each group is responsible for making their own travel arrangements to and from camp. Airports nearby include San Diego (40 miles), Los Angeles (120 miles), Orange County (60 miles), and Palomar Airport in Carlsbad (12 miles).
Reserve a Date:
You can reserve a date on our group calendar by calling (760) 434-7564 and speaking with our Director of Summer Programs. Please be aware that our calendar fills quickly; the sooner you call, the better chance you have of getting your first choice!
Return Your Group Use Agreement, Contract and Deposit:
Once we have determined your dates and program, our office will send you a Group Use Questionnaire. Please fill out completely and return it to us within three weeks. Once we receive your Group Use Questionnaire we will mail you a contract, liability agreement and other necessary paperwork/information. The contract is due back with a deposit to hold your group’s space. Deposits are refundable if requested in writing 150 days prior to your groups stay. Deposits are non-refundable and will be retained by the Academy in the event the group cancels its reservation. If cancelled after that time frame, the deposit will be applied to the total fee.
Supervision Needs:
Each group is responsible for providing adequate adult supervision for all youth involved in their program. The adult/youth ratio is a minimum of one adult to every 15 participants.

The California Summer School of Piping - Offers intensive instruction by four Scottish professional pipers and one talented American piper, in the playing and maintenance of the Great Highland Bagpipe.
