If you are thinking about joining us at the Academy by the Sea / Camp Pacific this summer we can hopefully help answer some questions you might have. If any of your questions are not addressed below, please do not hesitate to either drop us a line via e-mail us or give us a call. We are always here to help you have an amazing summer experience!
What are the dormitories / cottages like?
Our comfortable dormitories and cottages house either double or triple occupancy rooms which are furnished with beds, desks and clothing shelves.  Toilet and shower facilities are located near the rooms.  Boys and girls are housed in separate dormitory areas.  You will get to form close bonds with your unit and roommates as the boarding experience is a very important social aspect of Academy by the Sea / Camp Pacific.
How's the food?
We all eat together in our dining hall and have enough variety to even satisfy the pickiest of eaters. Apart from a daily hot breakfast, you can also choose a variety of options from our breakfast bar, including hot and cold cereal, yogurt, cream cheese, jelly, peanut butter, honey, and assorted fruit.  At lunch and dinner we serve a warm entrée and have a salad and deli bar and a dessert station available.
What do I do if I get homesick?
Your counselors, teachers and directors are always able to assist you. We know it is not always easy adapting to a new environment away from home and all our staff are well-equipped to help you deal with problems that may arise. They are very eager to help you adjust and ensure your stay with us is a happy and fulfilling one. Any time you need to talk, we will be there for you.
Where are all the other students and campers from?
They are from all over the world! The majority of students and campers come to us from Western states like California, Arizona and Nevada, although some also come from the East Coast and other parts of the United States. We also have international campers from countries such as Spain, Italy, Germany, Mexico, South Korea and China. Room assignments are usually made by pairing students or campers of either the same age or grade level together.  Roommate requests can be made, but we cannot always guarantee them when age or grade levels are vastly different or the request is not mutual. Placement challenges may also at times prevent us from meeting some requests.
Is there a dress code?
Dress is informal. Usually shorts and tee-shirts. Students and campers are however expected to be well groomed and all clothing should be appropriate and in good taste. Some dressier outfits may be brought for special occasions. Laundry service is provided to all students and campers once a week and is charged to an incidental account. For more ideas on what to bring to camp, see our packing list.
